I personally love all types of scale RC planes and if it flies through the air, realistically, it feels great! Many RC fliers build and fly these big scale RC planes simply because it is amazing to fly a huge airplane! However, other RC pilots spend a lot of money and countless hours getting ready for scale competitions that emulate full-scale aerobatic aircraft competitions.
In today’s ARF, RTF, plug-n-play, receiver-ready, bind-n-fly, pre-built, just gas-up-and go world, time spent in assembling model rc plane in order to get it into the air has become incredibly short. As the amount of kit and plans-built models showing up at the flying field go down, lots of assembly techniques and tricks often used in scratch building are seldom mentioned.
If you have never built a model from scratch in the past, I think you will find these assembly projects and techniques of interest.
This article explains many of the tips and tricks used in the building and finishing rc plane scale.
